Treatment of a Knee Injury

This patient came to me with pain and arthritis resulting from dislocation of the kneecap which had been causing pain and limited mobility for over 10 years. Part of the cartilage holding the kneecap in place had been torn loose in the injury. Doctors advised against surgery to reattach the cartilage and recommended exercise. However, the pain of moving the joint prevented the patient from engaging in a program of muscle building exercise as needed to strengthen the knee.

After only one treatment, this patient experienced a significant reduction in pain and increased ease of mobility. With repeated sessions, combined with a program of nutrition and weight loss, the patient was able to systematically increase her exercise levels.

At this time, five years after completing the cycle of treatment, the patient still has no recurrence of pain. She now commutes to work by bicycle and engages in a variety of other sports including yoga, dancing, aerobics and snowboarding.
